Thats it, no more. The end. Im done with college. I just passed my last final today. I've just got to go to my commissioning ceremony on saturday and we've got our second officer on the forum (if gatorade has made it over here yet). Ill be a proud new Second Leiutenant in the US Air Force, on my way to flight school. I'll get out of Indiana State University with a BS in Aerospace Administration with a minor in AFROTC. I got sent to Maxwell AFB in Montgomery AL for 2 months for an Introduction to the Air Force school, then I get to go to Moody AFB in Valdosta GA. I get to sit there until November when I start my first 6 mo of pilot training. I'm gonna have to try and hook up with you southren ranger sometime while I'm down there. I always missed the GLR events... Let me know if your around those areas, I'll show you how college boy's party!

Congrats on the appointment! You can catch many of us at www.24hourgames.com for the 2006 season. They are located in Dalton GA, which is north of Valdosta on I-75 about 4-5 hours I think. Great paintball there.

Congratulations, butterbar ;D(am I the first one to call you that?). How do they determine what aircraft you get to fly, such as a transport/cargo or fighter? I wish you the best of luck!
Butterbar: is what we called 2nd LT's in the Army, because their rank on there collar resembles a stick of butter.

Butterbar: is what we called 2nd LT's in the Army, because their rank on there collar resembles a stick of butter. Butterbars is a fairly standard name. It is rather derrogatory though (PUNK! ). We wear our rank on our epaulets, not our collars though. As for Weapons System selection, that gets kinda complicated but I'll still try to explain it. First I get to spend 6 months at Moody flying T-6's then at the end of that time the entire class gets ranked. The AF then provides us with a number of slots of secondary trainers, such as the T-38 then the #1 pilot in the class gets to pick which airframe he wants. Then after another six months or so in that plane we get racked and stacked again, and the AF provides us with a list of available jets and they go from the top down and we pick our jets. Then we have a year or so of training in that particular airframe and in other training (like SERE) before we are combat ready. And incase anyone is wondering, I'm trying to get F/A-22's, F-15's, or B-1's. (Go fast, blow stuff up. Hoo-RAH!)

Congrats!!!
Good luck with training! It's tough, but well worth it. We have a few pilots that fly for us that have military experience, and they can't talk highly enough of it!
And yeah, if you do end up giving rides to any of us forumers whom you've never met, put me on that list. I am not picky about what i ride in either. Anything in Air Force Grey will do!!
jj
P.S. I'm sure you heard this before, but if you want to continue to the airlines after the military, check out tankers and transports....very very un-sexy, but the experience will nearly guarantee a right-seat slot, at least quicker than otherwise!!
