This the basic Dead by Dawn Scenario Vest by COPS911.com. Base price is $139.95. The DBD vest comes standard in a mesh fabric, I choose to have it made in regular Cordua nylon. When ordering you also have the option of several different camo patterns and solid colors besides black. Velcro ID tags are also available for the left and right hand and upper back of the vest. The ID tags can be used for your name, team name, sponsor name, etc. I ordered mine separately and recommend you get them when you get the vest. On the upper left hand side you can see the radio pouch. This comes standard with the vest. On the front right you see a double pod holder, that is extra. When I first got the vest, I was very impressed with the weight of the vest. It is heavy duty rubber lined Cordua nylon. Now some may say "this vest will get too hot during games", This is possible for some. I'd rather have a heavy duty made vest, than a light one that may tear or get damaged while paintballing in the woods. I can see owning this vest for a very long time before wearing it out in any way. I observed that all the hardware clips and zippers are well made. The vest comes standard with marker and mask holders on the front left and right hands sides. I don't expect any of the hardware to fail anytime soon. COPS911.com also has a lifetime warranty on the workmanship of the vest.
On the back of the vest you see three double pod holders and above them a second double interlock Velcro system. I could mount another three double pod holders, pocket/s, tank holder/s, triple pod holder/s, etc. All of these items are extras and available from COPS911.com. Between the front and back Velcro interlock systems, I could hold a total of 18 pods. Thats a lot of paint folks!
In this photo, I've opened up the ID and map holders. These holders are sewn permanently on to the vest. These are used to hold ID cards ,gas cards, chrono cards and maps during scenario games. COPS911.com made these to be easily accessible so you don't have to fumble around and you can just get to playing.
Here is a closeup of the belt keepers that I had installed as an extra option. The vest does come with a basic 2" belt, but I prefer the military style of gun belt.
I wanted to show a closeup of the stitching that is used on this vest. As you can see it is heavy thread and well done. COPS911.com has spared no expense in building a quality product for serious scenario paintball players. Another nice feature is that all of the arm holes and around the neck area are lined with nylon tape. I have a rather large neck (18 1/2") and do get chaffed just a tiny bit. I fixed this by wearing a BDU jacket and pulling the collar over the top of the vest. I'm sure if I had asked that COPS911.com could have or would if I sent it to them make that area a bit larger.
Here you can see the extra inside pockets I had added. These I will use for personal items such as wallet, keys and other things I don't need quick access to.
The front vest pockets are of a folding bellows type. It is nice and roomy. They have heavy duty Velcro sewn to them and don't open unless you want them open. These pockets will be good for the small necessaries, like tools, o-rings , battle swab, etc.
The two front lower pockets are mounted using the interlock Velcro system. They are easy to remove on purpose, but do not get ripped off by accident.
The upper left hand pocket is very unique. It has a small front bellows type Velcro pocket and then behind that a large zippered pocket. The zipper goes around on three sides. I use this pocket for my Digital camera at the moment. You can also see the rubber lining that is used.
Here you can see the adjustment for the sides. These have enough play that you can wear light clothes or even a heavy jacket and still be comfortable.
I had COPS911.com install a bladder sleeve. They did this for free. I already had a 100 OZ Camelbak bladder. COPS911.com does sell hydration bladders to go with their vests. The only reason my bladder shows is because it has the hanger in it and it is not filled. When properly installed it does not show.
The first time I wore the vest I was very surprised at the fit and lightness. You don't realize the weight of the vest when you are wearing it. I did ask about how to wash this vest and was told by COPS911.com that I could use a commercial washing machine or take it to the car wash. This vest was really more than expected when I ordered it. Robert of COPS911.com answered all my questions before I ordered it. He was also very prompt in answering my e-mails. This vest is not cheap. There are other makers of vests and cheaper vests, but in all honesty, I don't believe that anyone can meet the quality and workmanship that COPS911.com puts into their vests. COPS911.com has just come out with a simpler version for the cost conscious and casual scenario player, the Eliminator TAC Vest. That vest starts at $89.95. Be sure to check COPS911.com for current pricing and options. They are a very innovative company and are constantly adding new items. If you find a vest you like, but don't see an option or options that you want, don't hesitate to call. They will do the best they can to make a product that your happy with.
