About 4 weeks ago I finally pulled the trigger. I bought the mask I always wanted, the JT Proteus. I've had 2 other masks before getting the Proteus, namely the JT Enforcer, and a V-force Profiler. I will rate the Proteus on Look, Fit, and Feel.
Look
I love the look of the mask, maybe because the mask looks like that of Master Chief from the Halo video games. It looks futuristic and the smoke color is a perfect match for my black SpecOps vest. Other masks out there look like a funky alien or a bug, the Proteus on the other hand is a classic design which I hope they don't deter away from much in future models.
For looks I have to rate this a 9.2/10 because I shopped around for a mask for more than 6 months and the Proteus caught my eye the most.
Fit
Here is where the Proteus is lacking, but don't worry its not by much. I don't know if its because the back of my head is a little flat but the strap slips down from where I initially place it. This is only in the thick of battle where I'm running and diving though. The strap doesn't come completely off, it just shifts down a maximum of 3/4" while playing. I've learned to adjust to this by placing the strap high on my head.
Its important to note that I have very short hair--1/4" all around so I doubt that longer-haired individuals will have this problem. From now on I will be using a headwrap and then placing the strap at a regular height.
For fit I will rate it a 8.7.
Feel
The padding on the inside of the mask feel great. I sweat a lot and the foam has never been uncomfortable. The foam dries up pretty quickly as well. Leave it for about 10 minutes in the sun and it dries right up.
I got rid of the chin strap. It was just too annoying on my neck. I don't even see a need for a chin strap, if anything the mask moves down your head, not upwards.
The jaw area is softer than the rest of the mask, this is to give you a better chance of a bounce. I've gotten shot in the lens, not the jaw so I wouldn't know if the bounce factor really helps.
Wearing the mask overall is very comfortable. The 260* field of vision is great for woods. It lets you keep an eye out for your teammates when advancing.
For feel I'm rating it a 9.4
Even though I absolutely love this mask I didn't rate it a 10 because I know there's room for improvement. I hope the Proteus 3 will make a few advancements on an already near-perfect mask.
