Okay guys after seeing Telman's A5 on the old forum with his palmers stab mounted behind his cyclone I got to thinking, could I do this with my 98 Custom? After a couple minutes I thought hey why not lets try and see what happens. After taking my marker apart I noticed that there might be enough room for a 90 degree elbow to attach to the power tube. I decided that if i could get the elbow in and leave it facing the right reciever half I might be able to attach a 90 macrloine fitting to this one and have a really clean look. Basically if you look at my Marker from the left side there is no way of telling where the air goes in to it. Warning if you are squeamish about drilling a hole into the side of your marker then this mod is not for you.
First I took the marker completely apart and removed the power tube. Next I removed the old braided hose line from the power tube. I then took my 90 elbow and wrapped it with two turns of pink teflon tape. I then proceeded to to put the elobow on the power tube. To get it to fit inside with the marker halves put together you have to kind of torque it into place. If you go past the point you need to and cant get the elobow to turn anymore then you must take it out wrap it with new teflon tape and start all over. My sugestion is to count the number of turns you get to the first time so you dont go past that again. Now check for clearance. Here is a pic of what mine looked like at this point:
The next step was to measure and drill the hole for the elbow to be able to accept the macroline fitting. I measured by marking the inside of the marker with the powertube in place. I bassically traced around the elbow and then drilled in the center. If you have a vice use it. I actually messed mine up because it moved while I was drilling. Its hardly nitecable woth the fitting in place but still I know its there. Here is a pic of the drilled hole:
Step three is to put your marker back together and attach a 90 degree macroline fitting into the new hole on the side of your marker. Here is a pic with the fitting inside the reciever:
Last check (and pray) that you have no leaks. Here are some pics of the finished product:
