Hey Folks I wanted to get any opinions on the new cyclone feed for the 98C. Its rate of fire is documented up to 15 bps but I wanted to get some actual reviews from you gents. I was debating this purchase or a standrad agitated Hopper (Viewloader, Richocet, etc....) Any suggestions would be great

I switched to the Cyclone from a 12V revvy and I will never go back. Just the fact that you don't need to worry about turning the thing on/off, the batteries running out on you, or it frying in the rain is worth it. It also has a much lower profile than a standard or agitaed hopper.
I can't speak to the rate of fire (yet) but as soon as I get that RT installed I'll let ya know.

Thanks for the update Stoli. ;D Have you notived how many fewer shots you get off of one tank fill now that you have some of the gas used to rotate the feed? Is it minimal or somewhat excessive? Also from a noise level is it louder, softer or the same as a conventional igitated hopper? Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the update Stoli. ;D Sure thing. That's what this forum is for. I haven't noticed an appreciable difference. Oh, it's waaay quieter than a Revvy! It cycles when you shoot so you don't hear it at all. The Revvy can cycle anytime it thinks it needs to feed the balls into the feedneck so it can make noise at inopportune moments. Hope this helps.

And about the only thing you really need to worry about with the cyclone is the wearing of the rachet. They are very cheap and very easy to replace. JR - I don't know if I showed you what the rachets look like or not when I gave what spares I had left to White Chocolate this past weekend when we played. It is that clear looking part in the center of this pic: The cyclone is VERY reliable and is a great upgrade for the 98C.

Thinking about it..
I'm stuck between a ViewLoader or the cyclone. From what I've heard, from Stoli so far, the cylone is quieter, feeds just as many bps, has a lower profile and is a few bucks cheaper than some of the upper end agitated hoppers.
Ether way I have to get rid of that standard hopper I have and join the Big Boys...

I vote for the Cyclone.
From what I understand, it was tested on the 98C before Tippmann introducesd the A5.

When I start butchering (and I mean BUTCHER) my 98C, I am going to try something just a little different. It's been done before but it'd be nice to even out the feel of the 98C with a centerfeed instead of the stock feed off the side. Yup, been done before but since I already have a Halo, might as well use it! ;D A Halo is over kill on a 98C, I know, but what the heck. Let's have some fun.

The cyclone is definitely the way to go.
Tippmann says the cyclone can shoot up to 15+ bps, but reliably speaking, an un-modded cyclone should hit 12-13.
From my knowledge, the cyclone runs off of excess gas. So, there shouldn't be a noticeable difference in the amount of shots you'll get from a tank, but I know the A5 is a gas hog, so I can't really speak for the 98.
For noise, it's quite. You should really only hear the clicking noise of the ratchet, but the friction on the spiny thing that cycles the balls, and the noise of the balls dropping into the spaces of the spiny thing also cause noise.
The profile of the cyclone is good as well. On an A5, the top of the cyclone only sticks up 1/2 of an inch from the top of the receiver halves. But since the hopper is pretty bulky, from the top of the receiver halves to the top of the hopper is about 5 1/2 inches. (I just went and measured it for ya) But again, I cant relate to a 98, but hopefully that could clear it up.
Kind of a long post, but hoped that helped ya out!
