My first hand experiences with the C3...

At first glance i thought it was kind of a neat idea. However, a couple weeks ago, i had the opportunity to field test it. I have to say i was not terribly impressed. heres why:
Size: Size does matter, no matter what the ladies say, and this one is just too big for what you're getting. if they found a way to shrink it down drastically, then it'd be a lot more appealing to me at least. it was also quite heavy, especially for being made out of primarily composites.
propane aspect: very cool idea, those who stated that the combustion triggers a piston hit the nail on the head, the propane does not propell the ball, but compresses a piston, which in turn, propels the ball. the need for smaller tanks is a must. something the size of a 13 CI tank would be about as large as i'd go... smaller would be better. the fumes start to get to the head after a few strings as well...
sound: not as quiet as some of the higher end electros out there (matrix, etc) but definately a better sound sig than the rest of the tippmann line for sure.
Accuracy: the composite barrel is one of the biggest flaws in the C3. as far as i could tell, it was a unique thread pattern (if any) so the use of aftermarket barrels is one of those "i wish i could" situations. it did not help that the FPO was a particularly small breed of draxus. one break and your dead. barrel did not shoot well at all even after squeegying. the word "corkscrew" would best describe this scenario.
Pump stroke: long. and hard. not how i want my pump stroke... it felt very brass eagle talon ish. only longer and a lot more difficult, particularly on the return stroke. part of this, i'm sure is due to the nature of the propane valving, etc. It does not have a ball detent, nor anti-double feed feature as the SL line has. (once cocked, cant pump again) something not entirely bad, because i experienced several roll outs that was quickly fixed by pumping again, however, double feeding did cause many of my barrel breaks.
I found the combination of the tank, size of the gun, and a hopper to be extremely cumbersome, could be because i'm used to running either a pgp or a phantom. but hey. i'm picky. all in all a neat idea, but in need of some major changes before i'd consider adding it to my arsenol.
