I've been really tempted to get a new paintball gun as of late. I want something fast, light, a head-turner--something that's a classic. I've broken it down to two choices: a PPS Blazer, or an Angel Speed 2k4.
Opinions?
Using sports cars as an analogy would it be correct to say that the Blazer is like a Shelby and the Speed is a Ferrari?

From my perspective it would be personal choice. I own a Craig PAlmer Signature Edition Blazer and a DM5. Both have things I enjoy. The Blazer is more accurate than the Dm5, even using a Dye Ultralinght barrel. The Blazer barrel is matched to the marker. The DM5 is a paint shooting machine shooting well over the 20bps mark, where as the Blazer is a mech. Both are simple to clean/work on. I have teammates using PPS markers who have shot their markers for 10 yrs worth of scenarios, we play on avg 10 scenarios a yr, who had no problems with their marker. Cleaning is as easy as pulling the bolt and running water over the entire marker, putting the bolt back in and adding a few drops of oil to the asa and dry firing. I know little about Angels. Trigga would be the man to ask about their ease of use. Hope the info on the Blazer helps. My Blazer: My DM5:

First of all, the Blazer will probably turn a lot more heads than an older Speed.
I wouldn't bother with the 2k4 Speed. IIRC they don't have real breakbeam eyes, which is a big negative. 05 Speeds have come down in price a lot recently, if you decide you'd really like to have an Angel I'd suggest taking a look at those.

Very well put and that there ^ is some darn good advice. I wouldn't get any Angel that is pre-A4 Fly unless it has been flied by a WDP MT. I cannot speak for a Blazer but an Speed 05 is just crazy fast and extremely easy to take care of. 2-4 drops of oil every 8 cases or so and regrease the o-rings every 20 cases or so.

Maybe a max of 10-11 bps. They are a fun marker to shoot, so I never have worried about the bps aspect.

I just wish there was a store where I can hold both a Speed 2k5 and a Blazer... Anybody know of such a store in NY or NJ?

I only know of Impact Paintball in NJ. They have a WDP Master Tech at the store. They do not carry Blazers though. www.impactpaintball.com

Chances are, the only way you'll get to try out a Blazer is at the field. PPS is a custom shop and the Blazer is a custom marker. They retail at very few (maybe 1 or 2) places. So your best bet is to get with somebody who has one and shoot theirs. Go to the POG forum here: www.paintmagazine.com/pog/and try to find someone in your area.
