Even with my Snapshot my A-5 is still the loudest gun on the field! Why is this? I don't think it is the barrel because most of the sound signature seems to be coming from the body of the gun. Check my sig to see my setup. Could it be the red Maddman spring? Would going LP do anything?

Its mainly because the operating pressure of your gun. When I went to lpk with my a5 it got ALOT quieter.

There are a few reasons for the sound signature of the A-5.
What happens is the rear bolt strikes the valve stem, which itself produces noice, but the main problem is that because the A-5 is a High Pressure marker, the valve releases a massive volume of gas in a short period of time.
The LPK helps reduce noice because it allows the valve to release the air needed to get the ball to speed, but it does so over a longer period of time. In reality, about the same volume of gas is released to launch the ball, but the accelleration process is slowed down a bit as the valve stays open longer instead of releasing all the stored gas at once.
So what can you do to reduce noice short of getting the LPK? Well, get a good barrel designed with some porting. There is an efficiency drop-off with porting, but it allows the gas to bleed out of the barrel before the ball exits the barrel. This will reduce the sound signature a bit.

Kreeper the thing is he already has a snapshot so I'm not sure how much quieter he is going to be able to make it without an lpk.

^^Hehe, well at least we all know that going LPK will bring you closer to being a sniper. As for me, I'll be the guy with the Bigshot and the Dishka flash suppressor!

That's exactly what I have. It makes most of the sound come from the barrel tip instead of on the sides.

You just have to love the sound of an A-5. I am way to used to the Angel being so darn quiet. You fire the Angel and you barely hear anything. This weekend I was playing some 2 on 2 woodsball and my buddy was using his Flatlined A-5. Whenever it got really quiet and we were walking through the woods (we were one "team"), I nearly soiled myself when he started to fire . I completely forgot just how loud a Flatlined A-5 was. You just gotta love the sound though. I miss my A-5...sniff....sniff....

Wish my Apex was as loud. There was this one time I found myself in a bunker with a Flatlined, E-gripped A-5. I had my E-gripped Apex and we were taking turns laying down some serious covering fire for our teammates to advance. We were the loudest guns on the field, but the Flatlined A-5 was much more menacing than my setup.
