Im almost out of the oil tippmann gave me. What is the best kind of oil to buy? I dont have a paintball shop nearby, so it cant be paintall-specific.

Just about any pneumatic gun oil will work. You can find cheap pneumatic oil at hardware stores, or pb gun oil at sporting goods stores. Synthetic (silicone based) oils probably work the best and a lot of people stay away from petroleum based oils (hoppes) in fear of dissolving the o-rings (I haven't seen any proof of this). If you get the pneumatic oil from hardware stores be aware that some are meant for above 32*F, so I would recommend cold-formula pneumatic oil for paintball - especially if using co2. Often at times the pneumatic oil bottles will not say anything, so be sure to note the sku/mfr numbers and cross check them online with the manufacture site and online stores. I'm not sure about the stuff at home depot, but the stuff i found at lowes is meant for 32*F or higher; the bottle and manufacturer site didn't say anything about it, but an online store showed two sku's, one for cold & one for warm formulas Edit: oh, looking at what hoppes says about their oils, they say it 'deep cleans' the pores then protects them from gunk because firearm residue collects in the pores and builds up. It could be this 'cleaning' of the pores which causes the claims of added wear on o-rings due to the rough surface left behind.. who knows.

Hoppes makes lubricating oil and they used to supply the oil Tippmann markers came with so, you may want to look for that. I use spray silicone for my bolts and the Hoppes for my valve and cyclone.

I just use regular air tool oil. I've never had a problem.
