Hello to all, I've heard this same statement almost every weekend I've been out "Those Tippmanns weigh a ton, how do you play with that thing"? Now Im no body builder, but I've always found the A-5 to be a light-weight, manuverable gun(as well as the 98c)and find it very difficult to believe theres really that much difference between tippmann and other brands.Has anyone else heard this or are there any out there who agree with the statement?Just trying to understand this from another point of view.

I have heard it, but people seem to mostly be refering to a scenario gun, instead of a base model. Once you add on a stock, barrel/fore grip/front site, and mag kit, it can make it a little heavier.

The A5 isn't heavy until you add a Flatline. The flatty makes it nose heavy.

Yah, they're probably thinking of the older heavier models (thru Pro-Carb), or A5s like mine that have an extra 5 lbs. of rails, scopes, and cosmetic milsim crap on them. I need to build a second, stripped-down A5 for the seond half of the day when I get tired of toting a cinder block.

That is when I switch to pistols only... The second half of the scenario.

That's what a sling is for. You just let it hang off your shoulder when ou don't need to be shooting... Also, taking the tank off the gun helps a ton... Get a remote system and save your arms...

Yeah, but you still are carring the weight. I am too out of shape and have too bad of a back to carry alot of weight for an extended period of time. I will assume most of you guys are no where near as out of shape as I am. Anyway, us broken down fat people cant hack it.

I don't have much experience with non-tippmann markers, but when my A-5 has a barrel, regulator, stock, scope, remote, egrip and a full hopper, it feels pretty heavy to me. It feels much heavier than my Prolite, and probably more than a stock 98, but I just tough it out, I generally have more problems with my knees than with holding onto the marker

When I had my A5, with a FL, and Intruder foregrip it was easily at least 10 pounds without paint or air (normal hopper, 20 oz.). Loaded up on the field I suppose it weighed more, but did I ever notice it? Rarely.
Most of those whining about weight are in speedball where it does make a difference. Its easier to maneuver, switch gun hands, and react with a lighter gun...
However, I do have to wonder about the future of paintball though when I see posts about how much a "tank" XXX gun is when the unmilled version is easily under 4 pounds....
