I'd have gone with more dark "scales" to more closely match the rattlesnake look, or maybe go with the darker diamond pattern along the top of the gun to match up with the back of the rattler. But overall that's a great job. I it turned out better looking than I thought it was going to after seeing some of the earlier "in progress" images.
Very cool, just needs to be a little darker...

I agree, the scales stand out too much in a bad way IMO - A darker color scale with a slightly lighter brown diamond would have helped. The base coat of tan isn't my cup of tea either.
Other than color selection prefrences, she looks great for a first shot at snake skin. I can see where that'd be considerably more difficult than digi.

Thanks guys. Yea, i agree about the scale colors. Next time I will do it different. First time is tricky, cause ya just don't know...
I also like the idea of a color fade from top to bottom...more snake like...

I love it. Only change I'd make would be to add a color between the darkest brown and the base color and then used it to do the scales instead of the light color, then use the light color to do another set of diamonds or zig-zags or just highlights.

I gotta say that it's a very admirable attempt. The Flatline shroud came out almost perfect. If the Diamonds were colored in with a little darker brown/grey and the outline of the diamonds were followed by a slightly darker than tan color it would have been perfect.
I really thing that had you gone with the top part of the marker as the back of the rattler, the bottom portion is about perfect.
