Hmm... I haven't noticed anything coming out the back, but I wouldn't doubt it. I haven't even played one game with it yet.

Im not really a fan of pumps, but I was just wondering, why does it use propane? Why cant it just use Co2 or compressed air? There needs to be an exhaust because the propane is ignited in order to drive the piston which in turn uses air to fire the ball... You cock the marker, loading the piston chamber with propane, when you fire the marker, that propane is lit, causing an explosion which in turn forces the piston to compress the air behind it. Burning the propane produces gasses that must be vented from the marker in order to get the piston back to the starting position... Yeah, that sounds real safe.

It uses propane because its a revolutionary gun. They made it that way to be unique, to be new, etc etc. And ya, its tippmann, I'm sure they tested the hell out of it before they released it to the public. It has to be safe. That is untill some kid takes it apart, messes something up, and it blows up...

Thanks FD for the review, I've been keeping my on these for awhile now, and it looks like I might just get one. I have one Q for you, there are no rails as you said, but is the marker center feed or off the right side like an SL? Maybe there's a way to attach your own rail. Also, what kind of ignition is being used? If it is Piezoelectric, then that might account for the misfires.
Torch ;D

The markers feed is a right offset so yes its possible to mount some kind of rail system...even though the Iron Sights work great....most effect iron sights on a tippmann IMO. The C3 is ignited by a gril igniter. I found out that my problem was coming from the fact that I am mis stroking my C3. Some times Im not cocking back far enough and sometimes Im not completing the pump. I used the C3 at a scenario and had some fun with it, got 4-5 kills in about an hour of play....

I have shot at propane tanks for kicks and giggles with a .222 and burst it. did it blow up? hardly-just allowed a whole lot of propane to escape quickly and in that envoirment a fire cant start due to lack of O2. the worst and I mean the ABSOLUTE worst would be it leaked and you fired thus creating an ignition. It wouldn't explode, it would simply burn. now. . .lets see here it has 2 regulators and sips propane. HMMMM how much propane is being released? WHISPER amounts. is it going to Explode in little johnies hand? HELL no. . . and grill ignitor? hardly-its more like an ignition system in your modern car. It takes the measly 1.5 volts the battery puts out and turns it into something like oooo 20000 volts. safe gun? you bet! am I going to buy one? no-I don't see a future in these markers thats all.

i feel a little negativity in this little debate...try to view the new C3 as an attempt(whether it "works" or not is your opinion) to revolutionize markers and find some fresh solutions is all.

WOW .... Maybe its just me but for some reason Im thinkin that Tippmann is dealing with fire on this C3. Propane is so utterly dangerous. I cant get thoughts of 10 yrd old kids having a C3 , taking it apart themselves and having '' Murphy '' strike. I also wonder what the inhilation health hazards are of combusted propane fuel ??

More or less dangerous then a 10 year old playing with 800psi CO2 or 4500psi compressed air?

Except for the explosion factor and inhalation ??

what does propane smell like? (or at least the additive in ALL propane)
rotten eggs, if a kid is to stupid to realize what is happening- (and you would HAVE to work on it with the tank on marker, something no one should do with any gas) murphy should kick him in the rear.
You seem to think there all 150 whopping PSI is going to the chamber- it isn't, its very TINY. thats what I pointed out before, its the only way it can be if its so efficent!
as far as propane bottles, has anyone ever heard of a grill exploding?
