How does the rank system work

I was wondering how the rank system works on this forum? For example how would a recruit become a private?

The rank system on this forum is based completely off of post count (with an exception of staff members).

I have decided to keep these post counts hidden to reduce spam and useless posts...

Example - Billy-Joe has 183 posts and he reads that 200 posts are required to go be "promoted" to the next rank. He then goes off and makes 17 rather short, spastic, and worthless posts in order to up his rank.

"Cool"
"I agree"
"ORLY?"
"LOL"

Etc.
