I like my Palmers brass barrel. It's very accurate and on par with the ultralite in price.

Newman! Nice to see that you made it over. Like Wolfpack said, CP's are great. I have a one piece and I can't complain about it. Lapco's, J&J seem to be favorites among the forum also.

I would highly recommend anything from the Lapco line. Lapco makes great barrels that perform well and look great on the A-5 too.

I've got two words for you:
[glow=red,2,300]SNAP SHOT[/glow]
Or is that one word? Yes, she's a bit pricey, but the Snapshot is worth EVERY penny. This is the BEST barrel I have EVER owned.

Not to sound like a broken record, but anything made by Lapco will serve you very well. Their barrels are top notch, and the one-pieces are very affordable.
If you've got the money, buy a barrel kit. This will allow you to match your bore to the paint you're shooting on any given day, effectively decreasing the chance of breaks, increasing efficiency, and increasing accuracy. Some good kits to look at are the St!ff! Sw!tch, Evil Pipe, Lapco Snapshot, and Powerlyte Scepter. I have a Scepter kit and it works great!

I can recommend the Snapshot as well. World of difference from my Teardrop--which I'm about to get rid off now.

Single Barrels:
CP Dye UL Redz Pepperstick Stiffi Bigshot
Kits:
Lapco Snap Shot Redz Pepperstick MacDev Matchstik Stiffi Switch CP J&J
That's kinda what I'd lean towards - Stay away from Freak Kits and Evil Pipes (they are nice but unless you're buying one brand new, some of the older ones had a few big problems).
If I had to buy a barrel between $0-$40: CP 1 Piece " " $40-$60: Lapco Bigshot (12") OR Redz Pepperstick " " $60-$90: Dye Ultralite OR Stiffi (find a good deal somewhere) " " $90-$120: BT Apex OR Lapco Snapshot OR J&J Kit " " $120-$150: Redz Pepperstick Kit OR MacDev Matchstik Kit " " $150+: Lapco Snapshot Kit OR Dye UL Kit OR Stiffi Switch Kit

I only have a 2pc Snapshot barrel (.689 back, 12" tip), it was only $80 from hotshot. I couldn't pass up saving 20 bucks. The good thing about getting just the barrel is that is saves you money if you don't shoot a huge variety of paint. The .687 and .693 backs are available for only $50 each, with tips at around $50 each as well. For me, this route is better than shelling out over $200 for the full kit.

Hey Newman or whoever-
I have a teardrop and I am quite happy with it. Is there some problem I should be looking out for?
Why do you not like your teardrop?

Freak kit FTW. These kits are the absolute best. They use sleeves that slide into the back peice, so instead of switching backs to switch bore size, you just slide the insert out, and get a new one. You can buy just a front, back, and one insert for the price of any other barrel. And you can build inserts up from there. OR, you can buy the full kit for between 75 and 150 (new or used), and have all 8 inserts. Freaks can take a ton of tips, so you can customize them to your liking. And, my personal favorite part is you only have to buy one back per gun, instead of all 8. I.e. You've got an a-5, so you get an a-5 threaded freak kit, and you get an autococker. Instead of having to buy the whole kit threaded for cockers, you just have to buy a new back! These things are the best.

Hey Newman or whoever- I have a teardrop and I am quite happy with it. Is there some problem I should be looking out for? Why do you not like your teardrop? There is really nothing rong with it at shorter distances, but if u play a larger course say outlaw or maybe a scenario i have turned my gun up and have seen the ball dip and dive...not a big problem because you can then point your gun so that the ball dives to where u want to, dont get me rong it is a great barrel that has done its purpose im just looking for the next step
