what kind of bag do you use to haul all your gear to the field? im looking for a bag that i can put my A5, tactical vest, mask, spare gun (98 custom), paint, two 20 once co2 tanks, three extra pods, and a pod loader in... oh yeah it needs to fit in the cab of a standard cab toyota taco. so a body bag (hockey bag) wont work... i havent been able to find anything that i think would work yet... thanks, Randy

To be honest, I keep my vests and tac-gear in a separate bag from my gear. I have a body bag to haul my two nitro tanks, two a-5s, 12 pods, four hoppers, barrels, etc. and a duffel for the rest of it.
To get around the "has to fit in the cab" problem, I'd suggest getting a couple smaller Duffels and doing it that way. Maybe one of the smaller Body-bags and a separate duffel?

Me too ... I have seperate duffle bags. One for my hardware ( tanks, water bottles, towels, tools, pods & belt ) I keep my A5's , barrels, masks and vest in a seperate 3' long overnight duffle. It was a cheap on sale (dept store sale special ) with side and end pockets for extras. They both could fit on the front seat easily.
For the big events and at home storage I have a larger plastic 4'x2' approx snapon lid covered ( rubber maid from LOWES) storage container with 2 built in wheels that holds everything easily and you can pull from your parking spot to the safe zone without a problem ... or keep it all in your basement together for storage .. so far this system has wroked pretty well for me and keeps the wife from -itching at me about seeing my pbstuff out in the open !!!

This is the bag that I had: www.xtremez.com/paintball/product_information.asp?number=BGCGB&variation=C&aitem=&mitem=&back=yes&dept=112 and I loved it, but since I really only bring the things I need (a5, 2 tanks, mask, paint) it was to big for me, so I switched to a small marker case. But when I had that, it had compartments for everything. Zipper pouchs to keep your tanks in, one HUGE main compartment, and then various side zipper compartments. I just went and measured my borthers for ya, (he has the one in the link I gave you) and its 30" long, 12" high, and 12" wide.

Rubbermaid snap lid storage box. Available in a wide variety of sizes and stackable if you need to use to in order to fit into your vehicle. Cheap as hell, easy to store, keeps the rain and snow out.

I'm also running out of space in my small bag for my expanding collection fo paintball gear. So I'm considering two options: 1. Get a large gear/body bag Pros: professionally made, no time spent building it, looks cool Cons: cost, soft material, can't lock it 2. Build my own custom storage case out of this: Pros: cheaper, hard shell case, large wheels, can lock and tie down, can be used as a bench/work table, huge Cons: need to invest some time to design and build the internals, with materials for the internals the cost approaches that of some lower end gear bags, huge What do you guys think?

I'd recommend a large gear bag designed for paintball BUT make sure the gun compartments can fit an A-5. My JT SUV Gear Sack CANNOT fit an A-5 because it was designed for spaceguns that do not have a cyclone. It does fit my Imp and Vike nicely and securely though. For those who are devoted to Tippmann, I recommend the Tippmann Gear Bag. It'll fit two A-5s and ALL of your gear. IMO, the Tippman Marker Case is just a waste of money as it only holds the A-5, hopper and barrel. If you don't mind walking on the field with two bags and a box of paint that's on you. But once you buy a gear bag to hold all of your gear you'll never go back.

I think It would be a good idea. One thing I would do is. Put a smooth top with a lip, on the lid. To give you a solid workbench, that things wont roll off. That thing would never fit in my truck though. But I could strap it in the bed of my truck. Do you know if it has a waterproof lid on it?

The workbench top might be something to consider, but it might add to the weight and make it less comfy to sit on. As far as waterproofing goes, this thing is all built out of thick hard plastic. The lid closes in such a way that I would think it will be super difficult to get any water inside there (unlesss you're spraying it from a hose at wierd angles). You can go to your local Home Depot and take a look at one of these. They sell for $60 around here.

...2. Build my own custom storage case out of this: ... I use one of those for big events. I strap a padded marker case, collapsible cooler and folding chairs to the top of it for the hike in. As far as "internals," In the bottom I put 4" thick foam and cut circles to hold tanks and pods. I used to have foam cut to hold my old ProLiteand a sidearm, but I like leaving my A5 fully assembled, so I got a one of those 18x36 marker cases for it. Aside from that I have a big clear parts organizer for tools, the tool tray that comes with the chest, and a bunch of garbage bags for stuffing rancid gear into after playing. I would like to cut a bit of plywood so it would sit on the extended handle, with holes cut to hold pods for filling, and otherwise serve as a work surface when the chest is open. When I'm on the field I have a couple padlocks on it to keep it closed and a cable lock around a tree or through my freinds' similar roller to keep it from casually walking away.
