I dont think the apex adds any noise. I've been a little worried on the whole mechanism behind the apex's abilities, but I haven't seen much of anything negative about it.
Does anyone know what the maximum diameter the apex will fit? I have a secondary barrel and was thinking about trying this sleeve idea to test out an apex, but im not sure how much space I have to work with - I'm thinking it might not be able to fit without permanently modifing my secondary barrel, but who knows..
