The way the mag is setup, there's no hole for a [edit: gauge], and besides that, the hole would have to be on the front of the mag. My mag is coming on Monday, and I'm thinking of how to overcome this problem. What if I rotated the stab. 90 degrees inside the mag, then made a hole on each side of the mag? Through one hole, I'd mount the gauge. Through the other hole, I'd put a QD fitting on a 90 degree elbow. I know...I know...wait till I get it and figure it out, but I'm antsy to get this figured out. Here's a quick drawing illustrating my idea. Edit: I posted this in the wrong forum. Mods, could you please move this to the A5 Upgrades room? I'm sorry...I'm new here and apparantly aren't used to the layout yet.

Well I got my magazine (w/ stab.) yesterday, and it looks like my modification will work. I'll post pictures as I go. The mag is rectangular, so the distance between stab. and mag. wall will be smaller on the sides (draw a circle inside a rectangle and you'll see what I mean), so there should be plenty of room for an elbow-to-QD setup.

Please post a how-to while you do it. I might be interested in doing this to my specops mag as well.

Well this project might be dead in the water. I took the magazine apart and attempted to remove the set screw and QD fitting from the stab. But...I couldn't get the damn things to budge!! I even clamped it and use a pipe to increase leverage, and still couldn't get them to move. I quit when I got to the point where I was worried I'd damage something. SpecOps really put those things in there well!!!!

What do you guys think of your specops mag? I hear its made of plastic, arent you worried its going to break? Im trying to decide if I should get the specops mp5 mag, or the opsgear mp5 mag.

I'm not real pleased with the plastic, but it doesn't feel particularly cheap or brittle. Does the Opsgear mag allow the use of a stabilizer?

Even though its plastic, its injection-molded plastic. I've played 5 insane days of speedball with it on and its pretty tough. I'm sure it can hang in the woods as well.
The plastic is the same one they use for their stocks and grips.

nice, does that attach to the tombstone or the front hand grip like the opsgear one?

It replaces the tombstone, so the front grip is still an option for the gun.

No the Metadyne one is just the Standard replace the foregrip type. Although it hollow made of Al and opens up on oneside making it easy to work with.
