I've seen alot of people on alot of forums reccomend using teflon tape to secure threading on various parts of the marker. I finally got some myself, hoping to secure the barrel threading on the Pro/carbine before I hand it off to my fiancee (I know that sounded wrong, but I am putting the tape on the barrel's thread not actually trying to stuff it up inside the marker).
But I keep finding that the tape tends to shred when you actually thread the barrel, I got it to work better by wrapping it around twice, but I still have the feeling something is not quite right.
Are there any tricks to using this stuff?

I pretty much always wrap it around more than once, two or three full wraps should be just fine. Edit: You might also want to check out this thread on the UMS Forum.

Wow I dident even relize I was doing it the right way. I work as a plumber and it just come natrual to me.
Oh and if the tape looks like its getting grinded and pressed into the threads, than its doing its job. Teflon tape is used as a sealant for pipe. It grinds itself into the cracks and filles them up.

Just make sure you wrap the tape so that when you screw in the barrel its not trying to unwrap it. I usually will put 2 wraps max around any air fitting. The barrel has enough play you could get away with more but don't go crazy. The tape will be essentially destroyed if you take the barrel off again. Every time you remove the barrel you'll need to remove the excess tape and apply a fresh wrap for maximum effect though i'm not really sure what your trying to accomplish wrapping the barrel.

Yes the biggest trick to using teflon tape .. is to make sure you wrap it in the direction that tightens it when you screw something together !!!

The tape should destroy itself as you screw the barrel (or any fitting) in. It's grinding up into all the little cracks and crevices to fill them in and give a good seal. Every time you remove the barrel you will need to use new teflon tape.
