I've read the threads on JVC rva's, and I'm still not clear on should I have to adjust it or not out of the box? Do I have to loosen it, get my vel. set and snug it a little. As I understand it, if it is applying pressure to the velocity adjustment screw, it's working and no adj. is req'd. Let me know.I'm waiting for the MM spring kit's to show up, did I read somewhere that you should cock your marker before you put the red one in?thanks SD

I don't think you need to do anything with the set screw; as long as it's maintaining some pressure on the adjuster screw it should be fine. If it seems a little loose it probably wouldn't hurt to tighten it up but I haven't had to touch mine since I got it last year.
To answer your second question, yes I highly recommend that you cock the marker first before installing the spring, it makes it much easier to install the spring and much less likely to bend it.
