Well seeing as this section is bare, lets get it started.
I am getting ready to build a flame thrower hopefully before the next scenario the first weekend of December. That is if I can get a day off from work on occasion to work on it.
So, you guys that have them, what are you using, howed you build it, and what are you shooting out of it???
Give me some ideals. I have a few, but need some more.

What's a flame thrower? In my head I would imagine it would spray out paint, which would be awesome, but I'm not sure...

Yeah, I have heard of anything from a Supersoaker, home made paint sprayers, and even real flame throwers modded to shoot paint. I have also heard of people spraying all kinds of stuff out of them, from colored water, paint mix, for like the grenades, and semi liquid food products. I am thinking about a home made back pack mounted system. I have plenty of PVC laying around, and a good three or foot section of hose, that I was going to build a back pack launcher out of. I have an old harness for an air pack, that I borrowed some years ago from the fire department. Survivair Mark I design. So I have the harness (straps), and the braket to secure the air bottle in place. I am still figuring out how I want to do it. And I am also figuring out what to do with it after I get it done. I dont think I will be carring all that weight around a paintball field. I will probally build it, then donate it to my field. I just enjoy building alternative scenario weapons. I guess that is a strange hobby.?.?.?

Sounds pretty cool...when u know what ur doin lol.
I built 2 cannons for paintball last year (still have them) but mine use and explosion in the chamber..not air pressure.
All i can say is be carefull with what pvc pipe you are useing. Dont get something weak and not ment for the pressure you are going to be useing.
Persionally..i think you will have to have ALOT of pressure to be able to do this.
BTW- do you, or anyone else have any pics of one? That could prob help him/everyone else out alot.

I dont have any pics. I saw one on I think it might have been OK D-Day's site. It was a rel one, that was modded to paint.
And I am gonna try to keep it a realitve low pressure. Thinking around 80 psi or so. Will have to experiment with it. I also have one other ideal I am gonna research a little more.

You know those garden sprayers that you pressurize with a pump handle could easily be modded too shoot paint.

The one I saw that was a real one converted to shoot paint was pretty sweet. Too bad I dont know where it was.
I may try to make something that looks sorta authentic. But IDK.

I have already begun building a flamethrower myself, i used a water fire extingusher I bought at a fleamarket for 5 bucks. You unscrew the top and pour 2 1/2 gallons of paint in and presurize to 100 PSI. Currently I have it mounted on an old scott pack frame that I converted. Than I used a bike brake sqeze grip to actuate the handle and a long cord of clear tubeing atatched to the old 1/8" fitting on the tank, at the moment Im looking into a nozzle for it but before I scrapped the old handle I could get 65-75 feet from it. Ill post pics ASAP

Decker, you are a Genius!
I wonder if my pop's still has any of his old fire extinguishers. I doubt it, think he donated them to our fire fighter museum. Hmm, wonder where I can locate one.
Or maybe I can find an indian pack....
