My Q-Loaded A-5 Concept Shroud! (with pics!)

Here is my 'lil concept shroud I made on Photochop. It is supposed to make the gun more rifle-like, and should appeal to a snipers belly crawling nature.

Firstly, the AIC Q-Loader version....



This is intended to make a way larger feild of view above the marker. When there is no sight, the feild is completley unobstructed.

The Q-Loader is actually offset AWAY from the mask and goggles. This should allow the head to fit in closer to the rear of the gun (like a dogleg stock), although there is still an offset sight rail for the red dot for easy aim.

The Q-Loader for the A5 should be pretty cool. I hope that this configuration does not make it too back heavy however, which could be a risk. I could always counter balance with a few small weights in the front, but then there is an overall weight issue.

At least the Q-Loader is in such a spot where it will remain safe and well protected. I worry about cracking loading tubes on the ground while belly crawling.

Not quite as sexy, but pretty nice still. With any luck, I should be able to fit my head in behind the marker, overtop the stock (if not just enough). Thats the idea anyways.



I think that I will keep the air on the marker for a while, and perhaps this is a good solution for a nice sniper rifle feel/look.

If the prototypes feel nice, I hope to make one in fiberglass, or perhaps aluminum (a simpler version anyways). They can C and C almost any shape nowadays. Maybe I should just make a CAD file and get it ground out of a few peices of aluminum?

Any ideas? I have never done this before. Any input here is certainly welcome, and I hope you enjoyed my design.

That looks really sweet with the Q-Loader, I can't wait to see the finished product. As far as material goes, aluminum would probably be REALLY heavy, so I'd suggest fiberglass or something similar.

I was just thinkin... All that construction is really just cosmetic in the end (though it would be nice to have. I think I might start small and make this more acheivable version, that still performs the same.



Its kind of the cheapo version. Should perform the exact same way, just less to carve, sculpt, machine, etc.

The only thing I am confused about is how to attach the part that cradles the Q-loader to the marker? I suppose there are areas to attack it near the rear of the marker, but i dont know where i can attach it near the handle?

Anyone got experience with this type of thing?

Dump the Tank and go remote.

Then run a think aluminum stock along the bottom of the Q... Something along the lines of the old Lapco Bottomline stock...

Otherwise this is a killer application of the Q.

That indeed would be the optimal design for ease of production, and functionality. Thanks for adding to the design.

When I get home (at the gf's house now for Christmas) I will try out a few of that same design on the Photoshop and see how it looks there.

I am getting more and more curious about going remote? Perhaps this really is the way to balance this marker out and getting it feeling like an actual rifle?

Any experience with going remote with the A5 and a stock? I am wondering if I should incorporate some type of "air thru" opening in the rear of the stock to keep that hose out of the way.

I dont think this would be too hard to do. Id simply extend the length of the regular hose thru the semi-hollow stock, as opposed to building a new set of tubes and valves.

Also, (and perhaps this is a new thread)... but what is the LPK upgrade for the A5, and how does it make the A5 quieter? Is this needed to really make this a "sniper" quiet rifle? Even after the super quiet barrel? Are there other ways to make the ultimate silent A5? Hmmmmm.

The LPK is lighter internals, and a volumizer. The volumizer lets the gun use more air at a lower pressure. By having less pressure its quieter and the lighter internals give it less kick.

I like this one the best for functionality.

A couple of things I'd like to see:

• Mask clearance - sighting down the barrel would be REAL nice.
  
• A majority of players that will use this setup will run remote, so just put a nipple somewhere to clean up the lines.
  
• A slimmer foregrip - slimmer and shorter in height that the A5A2 grip.
  

For me the optimum setup for an A-5 would include a SpecOps dogleg stock, a q-loader under the barrel, and a A5A2 foregrip. So something better than this would really push the envelope.

What about placeing the qloader under the wirestock? Tho than we might undermind the whole concept of keeping the loader safe.

On the original concept pics, it looks like you would have plenty of room to run some macroline through the shroud, and could very easily make it a gas-through buttstock....that would allow some cleaner lines along the bottom of the marker, and would also ease the weight issue.

I have a gas-through stock on my A-5, and wouldn't trade it for the world. It would definately improve the concept!!

You could go with a standard gas through stock and keep the Q on top of it. That way it will move the stock down on the marker, coming out of the asa.
