It just changes the path of air flow so that the expansion chamber can be moved move up front to get a more comfortable feel as a fore grip.

Well, the DOP A5VA really didn't help the performance but the combination of the expansion chamber WITH an anti-siphon tube in the CO2 tank did. It took me from about 500-600 shots per 20 oz. CO2 tank to about 900-1000 shots.
