Before I start i need to emphasis that I will not be held responsible for damaged flatlines...YES THIS MOD VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY! ( But i think its worth it.)
Lets begin by marking out ON THE UNDER SIDE OF THE BARREL where we want our holes to be. I personally MARKED OUT 10 sets of 2 holes. (i later only drilled 8 sets of 2 due to bend in barrel.) the holes should begin no closer than 1/2 and inch from the tip. and should not go any further that you think you can file. (if you don't think you can't reach a hole to smooth it out...DON'T DRILL IT).
-I then drilled out my marks with a 5/64" drill bit...taking care to pre-drill small pilots for more controlled drilling later. BE SURE to drill slowly (low RPM and pressure) to ensure that you don't bust throughone side of the barrel and begin drilling the other.
THE HOLES MUST ONLY BE ON THE BOTTOM!!! The ideal situation would be to use a drill press to do this, BUT it can be done with a steady hand and hand held drill.
be careful, it it very easy to damage the surface on the upper of the barrel...and this we DO NOT want to do.
-Once the drilling is done you need to sand or file down the burs and rough spots that you made by drilling. Run your finger down the barrel and feel the holes...you should be able to feel small rims or lips around all of them. So what we need to do is sand these down. Take a flexible battle swab (not wood) and tape a small strip of fine grit sand paper to it.
Then insert the swab with the sand paper into the barrel with the sandpaper facing the holes you just drilled. THIS WILL REMOVE THE LIPS AND BURS, along with the factory barrel coating....thus BE SURE you sand as little as possible. DON'T go ramming the swab all the way down the barrel, just far enough to reach those last few holes.
-Run your finger over the holes you just sanded, they should be MUCH smoother to the touch(you will still feel the hole, but the rough edge will be gone).
now...go get yourself a quick drink cuz the hard part is over
-Once this is finished blow all the metal shavings out of your barrel (not inward toward the gun) and place the shroud back over the barrel.
-Now remove the end cap on the shroud that is on the barrels tip. there should be a gap between the shroud and the ports you just constructed. fill this gap with something sound absorbant. I would advise a Nerf ball or 2, cotton balls, T.P. if u are desperate.) This is key because it deadens the sound once it leaves the barrel through the ports.
Now put the end cap back on...and marvel at how much quieter your flatline
Still not convinced? How bout some sound...

This was 5 Ft downrange and to the right
