Here's another one of my custom projects: A do-it-yourself midblocked mQ Karnivor. The pics: She still needs a little hand-filing and an anno job, but that'll be done by mid-February. In the mean time, she looks pretty nice, has less kick than my old Shocker, and rips like wrapping paper on Christmas morning. The regs are AKA: A 2-Liter and an SCM. She's also got a Belsales .44 Magnum ram with Eclipse QEVs, MPP solenoid cover, and a Zero B board. The custom milling was done by my dad and me, and we also hand-turned the bolt on a lathe.

Very nice. What color are you going to get it annoed?

Very nice. What color are you going to get it annoed? She's gonna stay ninja-black. It's just more fun to say "I shoot a ninja Karni" than "I shoot a purple-orange fade Karni"

What does it mean to midblock a cocker? Is that where you get rid of the back block? Or do Karni's have no back block to start with?
Either way, sweet gun *wipes drool*

"Midblocking" is getting rid of the backblock and part of the upper tube. There's a sled attached to the pump arm that rides between the upper and lower tubes to replace the backblock. The boltpin goes through the bolt, then through a slot in the bottom of the upper tube and into the sled. Midblocking it reduces the reciporcating mass, thus reducing recoil (as if the mQ valve didn't do that well enough already) and more importantly, means that I can put my face right up against the back of the gun when I'm snapping out of the snake. The Karni started out looking like this:

You know my stance on Karni's but I appreciate yours - Good job and it looks great.
Any clue how much you would charge to do a complete mid/halfblock conversion on my X5E (hell maybe along with midgetizing it)?

I don't have any plans for doing anyone else's guns at the moment (I'm afraid of screwing up anyone else's gun), but if I did, the price would be around 2 bills (and that doesn't include anno). Doing it this way instead of a single 90* cut (like a Turtle, or most other halfblock jobs) is a lot more labor-intensive.
