Now, call me an idiot, but wouldn't you have trouble with the recocking, since the blowback gasses are able to completely vent into the environment?
I'd be worried about crap getting into my gun too, but that's just me. It looks sharp though!

My guess is the ziptie keeps the pump arm from coming out of the front bolt and flying across the room. But that's just a guess.
