Was fooling around with my A5 and some of the random accessories while cheering against the Steelers last night, and came up with this... ...too bad I'm shipping the 3.5 oz. to its new home today, and the stock grip + mag is WAY to small for my hand. I'm thinking about getting a Spec-Ops SD shorty shroud and an air soft SD rail mounting kit so I can put a full-size vertical grip further forward. Or I may just sell off the mag since I'm holding off on going to LP and/or compressed air while I wait to see if a Propane semi will be among Tippmann's new offerings this year. Here's how it's usually set up- minus the Flatline, which I sold this Fall.

Very nice! The 3.5 "on marker" like that is sweet....
About the SpecOps shrouds - the "seam" is on the top and bottom, so mounting rails on the sides shouldn't be a big deal, but you may need to get creative with mounting rails on the bottom (which I'd guess was your plan if you were going to mount a handgrip on it).
What kind of reg did you put in that stock? I've got the mp-mag and stock, but the only reg I have is a palmers male and I've been debating where and what I could do with it (inline reg in the mag probably the "easiest" unless I go with a modified LPkit down the road).

I got the 3.5 idea from...Mobey (or was it Turtle?) at one of the HS games last season. He was connecting a remote to the Palmer, but had a remote line malf or ran out of air or something, and borrowed somebody's baby tank.
Currently I don't have any reg in the stock- I mistakenly ordered the Inline instead of the Direct when I went to do the stock. I couldn't get it to fit the way I wanted to, so I just stuck it on the on/off valve at the remote tank. I've been watching Ebay and the classifieds for a cheap one, and got the Fem that way, but no luck on a Direct yet. With the Inline clear back at the tank there's enough volume in the remote line and fittings that with CO2 I get +/- 20fps on a bad day.
For the rail mounts, the real MP5-SD has a metal sleave that wraps around the SD handgaurd. I'm hoping that the SpecOps one matches the dimensions, but I'm loath to buy the $80 rail mount and find it *doesn't* fit. I may have to hit a gun show with a measuring caliper.

Here's the direction I'm heading now. Got the SpecOps MP5SD shroud ordered, going to pick up the new OpsGear MP5 gas-trough mag and modify it to work with the A5A2 tombstone for now, maybe an LPK volumizer later, and then start saving for an OpsGear MP5 sliding stock or JCS SS folding stock. I'm still working out how to mount rails on the SD shroud for a vertical foregrip.

Hey, I recognize some of those pictures *chuckle* If you want I can get updated pics up for you with the sd shroud, shaved lip, and tac-cap. (homebrew gear as backdrop is optional)

Yah, I'd love to see it! What's the length and inner and outter diameter of the shroud (not including the "silencer" section)? I'm going to use my LAPCO "suppressor" with mine, and would like to get the rails ordered while I wait for the shroud to ship.

Does the marker feel a tiny bit "side heavy" at all? Or do you not notice with it only being a 3.5? Looks great by the way.

It wasn't bad at all, even with the heavy Brass Eagle steel tank. I might pick up a lighter aluminum one if I don't manage to sell that female Stabilizer. Still playing around with the lay-out... My SpecOps SD shroud shipped yesterday. Now I just need to talk FLUp into making me a variant of the Striker Rail to fit it.

I just need to shout from the rooftops what a sweet piece of function-free cosmetic plastic the Spec Ops MP5-SD shroud is! I've been running around the house with the A5 all night, terrifying the cats. If you are considering this mod, ORDER IT RIGHT NOW! Also, the SpecOps Flattop Rail is a PERFECT fit for the Lapco dual-ofset rail's dovetail portion. Pictures to follow, once I sober up enough to hold operate a camera...
