Hello group,
I have been working on a certain idea for a little while now and I think I am about ready to take on this "little" project, but I cannot do it alone. This is where you all can help me.
What do I need for help? (Besides mental heheh)
I am looking to put together a small book of information for the paintball community. The contents of the book will be filled with real life stories from the field, and tactics from knowledgeable players of the sport. I don't want to go into great detail about the book other than I want/need your stories from the field.
I am asking the A5OG members because I know you all have been to big games and have some great stories to tell. I really enjoy the stories you all have and I am sure many others would like to read them too. This book will be filled with good information from knowledgeable players and exciting detailed stories to give the book some flair so it does not become redundant upon tactics.
I will accept stories from anybody for this project and the more I get the better, but there are some things to remember when you submit them to me. Your stories can be about a certain part of the game or a mission during a scenario. I would really love to sit and read a full game story, but I am really looking for detailed 1-2 page stories. Anything longer would become repetitive to the reader if there are multiple 3-4 page stories. Below is a list of things I would like to see in your stories;
1.) Proper grammar - spelling is a big issue. Make sure the words you are using are spelled correctly PLEASE. It will make this process much quicker than if i have to edit and fix every story that I receive.
2.) Details- To keep the readers interest make your stories as detailed as you can, describe the day, the field ect.. Your objective here is to bring the game to life so the reader thinks he/she is actually there.
3.) Pictures- Though this is entirely optional, if you have game pictures it will greatly add to the effect of the story you are trying to tell the reader. We all love pictures and know that a book with just writing is not as interesting or likely to be read and re-read as a book with pictures in it. Make sure if you do use pictures that they are your own or you have obtained permission to use them and provide me with contact information of the original owner.
4.) Personal Information- When you submit your stories to me you must remember to add your name, and location (i.e. city, state), and any team affiliation you have so that you are credited with writing the story. This will also show the readers that these stories are all from the field.
5.) How to submit them- Now that you know what I am looking for and hopefully understand what the use will be for you will start putting together your story. If you choose to submit a story you can simply email them to me at one of the following addresses, please only one.
staff@mnrat.com
Or
mnrat1@hotmail.com
Again your story will be used in this book, but you will be credited for the story that will compliment the book. I cannot promise that every story will be accepted and used in the book. I will only select the best stories that I think will be good in the book. Do not let that discourage you from putting a story together, by all means put one together but do it well. Microsoft Word or other word programs are a blessing for us now days so make good use of them.
Thank you all,
Matt Schofield aka SWATORNOT
