Here is a little something I put together for my Composition class. I wanted to put together a cool sounding scenario and I just flopped in some ideas. Let me know what you think about it.....
Hostile Waters
It is early June, 2012, and nightfall is nearly upon the Hoover Dam. The workers at the facility are preparing for a shift change as their normal routine. There are 20 people in the facility who are anxious to get home on this Friday night, but what they don’t know is their night is far from over.
With an hour of the workers’ shift left, and hopes of going home on their minds. They are suddenly interrupted by the unmistakable sound of gun fire. The workers panic to find cover from the noise but it gets closer, and they soon hear unfamiliar voices in the complex. A worker hides under a desk and spots them rounding up the others.
The intruders are heavily armed and more keep coming in. This definitely has gotten the attention of the workers. “What is it you people want?” A worker asks. There is no reply from any of the intruders as they continue to go about their business. They have now unloaded 6 crates from a truck outside, and he finally comes into the facility. “He” refers to the one and only feared terrorist left, General Vladium and his group “Runners”. The Runners are known world wide since the destruction of the Eiffel Tower in Paris a year ago. The workers recognized the general right away and knew that there would be no good from any of this. He quickly started ordering his men to place explosives on the dam structure. This is what was in all of those crates the brought in. A worker yells out “Just let us go!” he General does not reply.
The general has now taken over the Hoover Dam and is in total control of the facility. It is now 12:00AM and the next shift is due to arrive as normal. There are men standing by the entrance waiting for the workers to enter. The men stand guard for ten minutes and report to the general that the next shift is late. The general knows that his men have missed a worker somewhere in the facility. The worker they missed was hiding under the desk and has alerted the police about the situation. Within the hour the general has the dam rigged with explosives and reports from his men indicate the military has sent out the Delta Force, one of the most feared forces in the world.
The facility is quiet as the general is preparing the men for a stand. “What do you want?” A worker asks again. Finally the general replies the inquiry “I am here to destroy this dam and take over the Southwest United States.” The workers are stunned and fear for their lives. “What is going to happen to us?” The worker asks. “You are hostages and leverage for this mission.” The general says. The United States has sent out the best they have to regain control, but do they know General Vladium’s intentions? If he plans to destroy the dam, the water surge will wipe out everything in its path.
The United States will not allow any form of a take over or the destruction of another landmark. The Delta Force will stop at nothing to carry out orders they are given. They are the workers’ only hope at this point. Will Delta save them and the dam from being destroyed? Only time will tell story of this battle, or you can make the distinction of who will win.
